Présentation :
Le marathon de Lake Biwa, organisé depuis 1946 à Osaka, est le plus ancien marathon organisé au Japon. En 1962, le comité d'organisation propose à la ville d'Otsu, qui abrite le plus grand lac du Japon, le lac Biwa, d'organiser ce marathon. C'est à cette date que la course prend le nom de marathon de Lake Biwa - Otsu.
